Prophet’s Pulpit-KC vs Giants Preview and Prediction; Plus A Giant win vs Panthers Commentary

Written by: Tony “The Prophet” Yantosca

WINNING IS THE BEST DEODORANT

Whoever said winning is the greatest deodorant could not be a more positive statement when it comes to the Giants recent victory over the Panthers. The Giants gave up 82 points the previous 2 weeks and were outscored by 51 points vs the Rams and the Cowboys.

The game was relatively close until the end of the third quarter when the Giants scored to improve their lead over the Panthers to 12-3. With the Panthers offense looking impotent, the touchdown sealed victory at home. Broken and inept, Panthers QB Sam Darnold had a horrible game. He was pulled by the beginning of the 4th quarter. He was replaced by PJ Walker of XFL fame. He was actually worse. On his first series the Panthers had to punt. On the second series he had a 4th and 16 from his own 19. Walker threw an incomplete pass. The Giants took over and Booker ran for a 19-yard touchdown. On his next series Walker drove the Panthers from his own 25 to the Giants 29, but their drive stalled. Walker was sacked on that 4thand 10 and the game was over.

It was the first real appearance of the Giants defense since last year. They played great but were helped by the absence of Christian McCaffrey. The Panthers have not won a game since he went down. Here are some of the defense stats from this game: 6 sacks, 7 tackles for loss, 10 quarterback hits, 1 interception and 1 forced fumble. Ojulari had a great game. I was in favor of drafting him. It is one of Gettleman’s best picks. Ojulari was projected as a first round pick and he fell to the second round to Spick 50. Ojulari’s stat line looks like this: 5 tackles (3 solo), 2.5 sacks, 3 tackles for loss and 4 quarterback hits.

Jones played well. However, he does not give you the kind of stats that elite franchise quarterbacks have. Jones had a pedestrian day passing 23/33 for 203 yards, 6.1 YPA, and 1 touchdown. He also ran for 25 yards on 8 carries, 3.1 YPC. This was the formula that we saw last year. In the Giants wins, the Giants ran for over 100 yards in every win and Jones averaged 210/yards/game last year. However, this performance and the New Orleans game should cement the future for Jones as the starting quarterback for the Gmen. Yes, I wrote this. The Prophet thinks Jones has shown enough where he can be successful in the NFL.

Here are some other poor stats form the Panthers caused by the strong play of the Giants defense:•

Panthers’ 3rd down percentage: 13.3% (2/15) Giants 43.8% (7/15)•

Panthers only 11 first downs.•

Panthers only 173 total yards•

Panthers only 145 yards passing•

Panthers only 3.7 YPA passing•

Panthers 56 yards rushing without McCaffrey• Panthers only 2.8 yards/offensive play•

Time of possession: Panthers 25:25 Giants 34:35•

18 quarterback pressures by the Giants• 40% pressure rate for the Giants, highest of the year.

Giants DEE-FENSE stepped it up!

MONDAY NIGHT MATCHUP

Looking at this week’s game. I like the Giants to keep the game within 7 points with the Chiefs. The Giants have a golden opportunity to get a lot of yards and the potential to score 30 versus a beleaguered Chiefs defense. The key to the game will be can the Giants defense get pressure on Mahomes? If they can, they have a very good chance to keep this game close. The Chiefs want to get the ball to their playmakers Hill and Kelce. The spotlight will be on the household name players on the Giants defense. Bradberry will be charged with keeping Hill in check. McKinney will be looking to cover Kelce. He will need help on most plays. Ryan and Jackson will also be trying to limit the Chiefs big plays. It becomes more difficult with safety, Peppers going on IR this week.

Mahomes has self-destructed when he has been under pressure and he has a completion rate a 35.6%. He has only 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions with a 51.8 passer rating under pressure. It comes down to Ojulari and Lawrence to apply the pressure. Together they had 4 sacks last week.

The Chiefs are used to throwing for 300+ yards/week. They also get around 120 Yards/game in the rushing game. The Chiefs will use Darrel Williams to run the ball because they need to keep Mahomes out of obvious passing situations where they have turned the ball over. The Chiefs have the worst turnover ratio at -10. They have turned the ball over 17 times. This is worse than the bottom feeder teams like the Jets, Texans, and Jaguars who all turned it over 12 times. They want to get Kelce open over the middle where the Giants have been vulnerable. Bradberry will have to handle the Cheetah, Tyreek Hill, on his own on many plays. Kelce and Hill have combined for 1174 yards. They do have other passing targets like Hardman, Pringle and but they pale in comparison to the big two wide outs.

When the Giants get the ball, they will want to establish the run. The Chiefs are 27th against the run. The offensive line with Thomas, who is on IR played well last week. It will be up to Booker almost exclusively. The Giants use Penny on short yardage and they will get at least 30 yards from Jones running on average. If they can establish the run it will keep Mahomes and the powerful offense off the field. It will also set up play action. The Chiefs defense is bad and they are also 26th vs the pass. Barkley and Golladay are out again. However, it looks like Toney and Shepard could play. Together with Slaton, Engram, Pettis and Ross, Jones needs to throw for at least 275 yards if they are to have a chance in this one. `

THE PREDICTION

The Giants have been road warriors, they are 11-3 against the spread on the road their last 14 games. Conversely, the Chiefs play close games when they win. They are 3-14-1 against the spread their last 18 games. They are even worse at home, 1-8 ATS at home their last 9 games. The Chiefs defense has not been able to stop anyone. The were blown out last week by the Titans 27-3. I am calling this one Chiefs 31 and the Giants 27 as they just come up short and Kansas City gets to .500.

I am still including the Giants Decade of Malaise because this team is 2-5 with no chance to make the playoffs. You would think that the Giants won the Super Bowl by listening to the fans on Twitter. They beat an imploding team without their best player. These fans need some perspective as this team will probably win 6 games again. I’m glad they won but let’s see some more wins . I do realize these wins are rare and many overreact.

Prophet’s Pulpit-Panthers vs Giants Preview & Prediction Plus Commentary On The Sad State Of The Giants

Written by: Tony “The Prophet” Yantosca

This is all on you John Mara.

GIANTS DECADE OF MALAISE

Dave Gettleman’s Record since becoming GM: 16-38

Giants Record since last Super Bowl win: 52-72

Giants Record since the start of 2017: 19-51 (.271)

Giants Home Record since 2017: 9-27

Jason Garrett’s Record: 7-15

Daniel Jones Record as a Starter: 9-23

Daniel Jones: 44 TD’s (39 pass,5 rush); 45 turnovers (26 Interceptions, 35 fumbles, 19 lost)

Joe Judge’s Record: 7-15

Winning Seasons since 2011 Super Bowl Year: 2

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I am putting the Decade of Malaise at the top of the article to highlight how bad things are. The Giants are starting 1-5 for the fifth year in a row. The Giants season is over before October 15th 5 years in a row.

Mara and Tisch are to blame. They always hire within bringing ex-Giant exec Gettleman back. He is the King of Dead Money mounting up a $100M to correct the mistakes of the past just in his first 3 years. Believe you I can document plenty of busts that Gettleman has brought in who are already gone. That’s a paper for another day. He was going to fix the offensive line bringing in his “Hog Mollies”. He’s been here 4 years and it is still a bottom 5 line. The team was devoid of talent says Gettleman coming into 2021. I want to make sure Jones has enough weapons. So, he spends well over $200M on free agents. He spends the money on the wrong players like Golladay and Rudolph. Can you name 1 player on this team that can make the Pro Bowl? Toney is the only one worthy but he will not have played enough games.

The Giants have a decade of excessive injuries. It is systemic. They bring in players that are not durable. They do not do their due diligence. They need to make major changes in their scouting and pro personnel evaluations. I remember watching the program, “Finding Giants” on the NFL Network starting in September 2014 for 6 weeks. I bet you 90% of the Giants fans didn’t even know this program existed. The Prophet remembers everything Giants. After watching it, I said I would fire all the scouts! I was vindicated when after the 2015 draft not one player from that draft was on the 2019 roster. That year included one of Jerry “Reach’s” worst picks ever., Ereck Flowers!

The great Michael Lombardi who has worked with Bill Belichick, Al Davis and Bill Walsh had a great analysis of the Giants’ mess after their debacle loss in week 1 to the Broncos. I quote him:

They can’t evaluate their own players. They over judge their own players. They’re not good. They’re not even good on defense. They gave up 420 yards! And that’s with K J Hamler dropping a touchdown pass.”

On Jason Garrett he said: “ ….There’s no imagination…. Barkley and Booker had 14 carries for 33 yards. I mean there’s no design in the running game. The Clapper refuses to design a run game, this is not just a misdemeanor. But look, the Giants have been bad for five years. They’re 28th in win percentage over the past five years. They’re 26th over the last 10 years. This isn’t just a one-time thing.” With 4 more losses since that was written, they now have the worst record in the NFL since 2017.

Here are Lombardi’s comments on Mara after saying John Mara is a very nice man: “Unfortunately, John Mara can’t have an honest conversation about his organization and evaluate himself. That’s just a problem. It’s just a hard thing. He’s loyal to people, he likes people. They’re stuck in time. They can’t get out of it. They won’t change, and they think Garrett is a good coach! They think because he went to Princeton, he’s a great offensive mind-no he’s not!

Yes #DannyTurnover is back! Jones threw 3 picks and fumbled twice and lost one last week vs the Rams. Jones folds under pressure. Hed has gotten better but he is still subject to turnovers. After three years is this what you get for the 6th pick overall?. A leopard doesn’t change its spots. Long term you will not able to win playoff games with Jones. I don’t know if he can make the playoffs. The Giants will keep him. I would get off him next year especially since they will be drafting in the top 6 with 2 first round picks. Rodgers will be on the market also. With Rodgers this is an instant playoff team.

THIS WEEK’S MATCHUP- Panthers vs Giants

When the Panthers have the ball, they will be looking to crank up the run game vs the Giants. Matt Rhule said this week that he wants to run the ball more. McCaffrey is out but Chuba Hubbard has been a decent replacement. He had 81 yards/game rushing the past 2 weeks. He has 13 receptions for the year. The Giants are 29th vs the run and give up 137 yards a game. They give up 4.5 yards/carry. The Panthers are second in the NFL in time of possession. The run game also takes the pressure off of Darnold.

Darnold had been shaky lately after the first 3 wins vs patsies. He has 7 touchdown and 7 interceptions for the year. He does have 5 rushing touchdowns which is an added dimension to his game. However, to his credit Darnold engineered a 96-yarddrive in 90 seconds at the end of the game vs the Vikings last week. He threw a game tying touchdown with 46 seconds left to get within 2 points of the Vikings. Then he threw for the 2-pointconversion to tie the game. He still can make a difference at times.

The Giants have to get pressure on Darnold. The Panthers give up pressure on 39.5% of the plays which is the 8th most in the NFL. If they can pressure Darnold, the Giants can get turnovers which is a path to victory. Darnold can beat you deep which has been a problem for the Giants this year. Darnold has 21 passes of 20 yards or more and he has a passer rating of 111.5 on these 20-yard passes. DJ Moore is tied for 4th in receptions at 40 with 531 yards and 3 TD’s. Robby Anderson is having a down year. Darnold spreads the ball to the open man. 9 Panthers had at least 1 reception last week and 8 had 2 receptions oir more.

The Giants are the walking wounded as they have been for the past few years. 16 players are out for this game or on IR. Barkley, Golladay, Toney are out and starting LT, Andrew Thomas, is now on IR. This is the 19th game for both Barkley and Golladay in their careers that they are out. Barkley has missed 19 of 36 (53%). You have to start to consider that he has been a bust missing more games than he’s played as a number 2 overall pick! Golladay has missed 19 of 53 (36%) games. I have said from day 1 he was not worth the $72M, $63.6M is owed on the cap for the next 3 years! It’s week 7 Dave Gettleman and how’s is it working out with his 17 catches! That’s a yearly projected rate of 41! He’s never caught more than 70 catches in a year! Reason 98765469 that Dave Gettleman will be in the unemployment line at the end of the year.

It will be difficult for the Giants to move the ball vs the Panthers. They are 16th vs the run giving up 111.5 yards/game. Without Barkley the Giants have not demonstrated that they can run the ball for big yards with Booker. I don’t think they cantake advantage of the weaker side of the ball.  Every week the Giants have a different list of starting personnel on the offensive line. Andrew Thomas on IR hurts them. Jones may be the lead rusher because he may be running for his life on pressure plays. The Panthers are 2nd vs the pass (196 yards/game) and unfortunately for the Giants, I think that is the way they have to beat them. The Vikings threw for 373 yards last week and that included overtime. You can see that with 196 yards average for the season, even giving up 373 yards they have been lethal before that.

The Giants need a big pass game from Jones. Shepard should be his number one target. I expect him to have double digit targets. Pettis should get at least 6 targets and Engram, “The Drop King”, should see some action. Slayton and Ross are questionable. Slayton will be in play if he’s active.

THE PREDICTION

As noted above the Giants have been horrible at home. The Carolina defense will be too much. The only way the Giants win is to turn over Darnold 2 or 3 times. With the shaky OL, Jones may be the one making the turnovers. I am calling this one Panthers 24 and the Giants 16.

Rams 38 Gano 3

Written by: Glenn Warciski

Wow! What a difference two weeks makes.

Riding high from their incredible come from behind OT win over the Saints in New Orleans, the Giants have played poorly in consecutive weeks. Not just losing but getting blown out. They received a Texas sized butt kicking- losing to Dallas by the score of 44-20. And this week, in front of a sold out home game, got pulverized by the Rams 38-3. ( Here at the NYGunderground we do not count garbage Points).

What is so demoralizing, this current team under the leadership of HC Joe Judge played so shitty on a day in which the Giants organization commemorated the 2011 Super Bowl squad. It has been ten long years… when the Giants were exciting and fun to watch.

Now back to 2021. I had two questions after the victory over the Saints.

1. Can the Giants win three games in a row and get to a .500 record?

2. What took so long for the coaching staff to get more targets for rookie sensation Kadarius Toney?

Instead of using the Saints win as a springboard, the Giants foundered into the deep end of the pool. These crappy back to back performances is what gets a coached fired. A 24 point loss followed up by a 31 point loss. The NYGUNDERGROUND is putting Joe Judge on notice. His team is playing like hot stinking garbage. More uncompetitive games will get him fired at seasons end.

Joe Judge overall record: 7-15. Clock is ticking…

As for Toney, too bad he had to leave Sunday’s game because of injury. Let us face it: he is the only bright on this wretched team. Quite frankly, it is malfeasance upon the coaching staff for having him stand on the sidelines for 3 games. What were they thinking?

Other Observations:

In last weeks FMIA column written by Peter King, he noted the following:

Two questions: Can Daniel Jones make this a game against the rested Rams, coming off their long-weekend mini-bye? And can the Giants survive the Dallas-Rams-Carolina-Kansas City-Las Vegas-Tampa Bay pre-Thanksgiving gauntlet?

Daniel Jones was awful. Barf…. 4 Turnovers. 3 Interceptions and 2 Fumbles (one fumble recovered by the Gmen). In a game in which, the Giants needed Jones to step up, he failed miserably. A QB in the NFL cannot turn the ball over FOUR times and expect to win especially against a top notch NFC foe like the Rams. I did not like him the day he was drafted. He is a back up NFL quarterback not a starting one.

David Gettleman:, Since taking over as GM, the Giants have posted a piss poor record. 16 wins and 38 losses. Thru 6 games to begin each year, the Giants have the following records.

2018 1-5
2019. 2-4
2020. 1-5
2021. 1-5

Notice a disturbing pattern here. Dreadful starts of seasons. They are out of contention before the second half of a season begins. What is it going to take for owner John Mara to fire him already?

It has been extremely frustrating following this losing team. It has been 10 years since the Giants won a playoff game. This organization has lost its way. It used to be a culture of winning. Now it is a culture of losing.

Prophet’s Pulpit-Rams vs Giants Preview & Prediction Plus Dallas Game Autopsy

Written by: Tony “The Prophet” Yantosca

DALLAS GAME AUTOPSY

Dallas’ offense had their way with the Giants defense.

I thought that the Giants had a good chance to keep the Dallas game within a touchdown given that the Giants have been road warriors since 2017 especially as an underdog. However, the start of the game was a litany of miscues including the one that got Barkley injured.

On the first Dallas drive it is 4th and 2 yards from the Giants 44-yard line. Dak tries a short pass to Elliott that Lorenzo Carter tips and in a great play intercepts the ball. On 2nd and 5 from the Dallas 36-yard line, Jones missed Ross near the 5-yard line for a touchdown. The throw was 4-5 yards too far to the outside. Unfortunately, the Giants could only muster a 54-yard field goal try. Gano, who is usually automatic from the 50’s, misses it.

Then disaster strikes. Jones overthrows Barkley. Barkley is still looking down the field while still moving to his right. He steps on the left foot of Jordan Lewis and suffer a severe ankle injury. Barkley is done for the day. This was the end of the game for the Giants.

The Giants mount a nice drive before the half. Because Barkley was out Booker was ineffective trying to punch the ball in from the 2-yard line. He made 1 yard on 2 tries. So, Garrett orders up a naked bootleg for Jones. He gets stopped short of the goal line. However, he suffers a helmet to helmet hit that knocks him out of the game with a concussion.

It’s unfortunate for the Giants because on 4th down from the 1-yard line. Booker dives over the pile for a touchdown. The game is 10-10 but the Giants as they do every week, give up a touchdown before halftime. The road warrior Gmen without Barkley and Jones at this point are done. It only takes Dak and the Cowboys 2:15 on 8 plays and 75 yards to score the touchdown making it Dallas 17-10. The play before the 24-yardtouchdown to Amari Cooper, Bradberry dropped a sure interception that hit him right in the breadbasket between the numbers. Bradberry has had far from a Pro Bowl season this year.

In the final analysis, once again the Giants beat themselves in this game. They have a small margin for error in all these games if they are to win. We have consistently in the Joe Judge era seen the mistakes and penalties continue.

Looking at this game, here are the missed opportunities in the first half alone:

• The Giants get no points off the Carter interception.•

Jones overthrows Ross for a sure touchdown at the 5-yardline on that drive.•

Gano misses a long field goal but certainly within his range.•

Barkley steps on Lewis’ foot because he is looking ahead and not aware of what is around him.•

Booker cannot punch the ball in from the 2-yard line on 2 tries so Garrett sends Jones to do it and he gets a concussion in the process.•

Bradberry drops an easy interception. On the next play Dallas scores a touchdown.

With Glennon in this game is basically over. Kenny Golladay got hurt in this game. That has been his problem. He will miss his 18th career game Sunday out of 48 games. He missed the entire preseason. I never wanted him on the team. This $72M man has 17 catches and 282 yards. He is an overpaid bust. He never had more than 70 catches in his career. He is on pace for 48 catches if he comes back in week 7.

The other issue is that the Giants defense has been giving up an unbelievable amount of run yards every week. This has especially true since Blake Martinez got hurt. We need Snacks Harrison back! They gave up 201 yards vs Dallas and an average of 157 rushing yards the last 3 weeks. Everyone thought the defense was the strength of this Giants team. Well, think again! The Giants defense gives up 419 yards a game in their first 5 games.

RAMS/GIANTS MATCHUP

Looking ahead to the Rams game, the Giants have no chance to win unless they get 2-3 turnovers. The Rams have a very efficient offense. They get a whopping 6.71 yards/play and 9 yards/play passing. The Rams have one of the best offensive lines in the league. Stafford has only been sacked on 2.3% of his drop backs which is the best in the league.

The Rams will establish a run game with Henderson and Michel. Remember the Giants gave up an average of 157 rush yards the past 3 weeks. Then Stafford will have plenty of time to survey his weapons. He has the choice to pass to Kupp, Woods, Van Johnson and the tight end Higbee. McVay knows how to get them in space. Expect some jet sweeps and crossing patterns over the middle where the Giants are vulnerable. I don’t think the Rams will have any problems moving the ball vs the Giants unless they hurt themselves with penalties and turnovers.

When the Giants have the ball, they must establish the run game with Booker. The few times in his career when he was the lead back, he has not done well. The run game is necessary so they are not on obvious passing downs vs this defense. They also want to keep the Rams high powered offense off the field. The Rams are tied for 5th in sacks with the Bills at 14. Jones got the green light to play this week. This is huge because he will be under pressure all game. He is much more mobile than Glennon. There will be plays where he will be flushed out of the pocket. Jones is the Giants leading rusher. He has 197 yards to Barkley’s 195. I doubt this offensive line can hold up all game especially if the Giants have a ton of 3rd and longs.

It took 5 weeks for Garrett to utilize Kadarius Toney. This was due to necessity with Shepard, Slater out and Golladay getting hurt in game. Toney is a sensation. He does not need blockers to make defenders miss. He set the Giants rookie single game receiving record at 189 yards. He could have broken 200 yards if he didn’t stupidly throw a punch with less than 5 minutes left in the game. He was ejected. He will be a huge part of the offensive in this game. Garrett just needs to get him the ball in space. The bad news for Toney is that he will probably see Jalen Ramsey most of the day as he has been covering the slot. Maybe Garrett can move him outside because Shepard is coming back. They should play Shepard on the outside.

THE PREDICTION

The Giants play worse at home. Maybe it’s because they have more pressure on them in front of fans during this 5-year losing streak. Last year the Giants played the Rams close. It was on the road where they play better. The defense was better last year with Fackrell and Martinez, who is out. The Rams had Goff last year. Stafford is a better quarterback who can utilize the complete McVay playbook unlike Goff. I’m calling this an easy day in the park for the Rams, Rams 34 and the Giants 19.

GIANTS DECADE OF MALAISE

Dave Gettleman’s Record since becoming GM: 16-37

Giants Record since last Super Bowl win: 52-71

Jason Garrett’s Record: 7-14

Daniel Jones Record: 9-22

Joe Judge’s Record: 7-14

Winning Seasons since 2011 Super Bowl Year: 2

Prophet’s Pulpit-NYG vs Cowboys Preview & Prediction Plus Surprising Win Over the Saints

Written by: Tony “The Prophet” Yantosca

The Giants come from behind OT win probably saved many jobs at the Meadowlands. It gives a lease on life to Gettleman and Garrett. This is pending of course what happens for the rest of the season. The Giants were headed to another start to the season where the first win occurs in late October like it has the past halfdecade.

Sunday’s game was the first time in 30 tries that you got an inkling that Daniel Jones may be the future starting quarterback for the New York Giants for years to come. He was 28 on 40 attempts, 402 yards, 10 YPA, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Sean Payton coached the game like the Giants played, awful, the first 3 weeks.

The Giants made a great comeback in the 4th quarter. It was even more amazing given that they were missing Shepard and Slayton. The offensive line had new players Price and Skura. They played surprisingly well and gave up zero sacks! Garrett called an innovative game. Maybe he heard the calls from the #TogetherBlue Giants Nation for him to be fired. They have gotten louder the first 3 weeks. He got Toney involved for the first time with 6 catches on 9 targets for 78 yards. Golladay had for 116 yards on 6 catches. Lattimore was not on him the whole game.

We even had the first appearance of John Ross. His claim to fame is that he holds the fastest 40-yard time at the Combine, 4.22. He caught a TD bomb that he fumbled going into the endzone. He had the sense to fall on his fumble or it would not have been a touchdown. Kudos for Gettleman for taking a dart throw on him because the rest of the league did not want him.

I am happy that the Giants finally won a game, which has been a rare occurrence the last 5 years, but Sean Payton handed the Giants the victory after he had an 11-point lead with 12:09 left in the game.

Sean Payton’s Blunders

His first bad decision was not to kick a 47 yards field goal from the Giants 29-yard line after a 9 play 6-minute drive. The game would not have been in overtime if he made it. It was well within the range of Rosas. I can remember Mike Francesca saying over 25 years ago, it’s always better to get the first score out of the way early as it becomes more difficult as the game progresses. On a 4th and 3 (3:51 minutes 1st quarter) Winston pitches the ball to Kamara who is 11 yards behind the first down mark. He gets stopped short and 3 points are wasted.

The second bad decision was to try a 58-yard field goal from theGiants 48-yard line. He didn’t try a 47-yard field goal, which is probable, early in the game. Peyton thinks he can hit a 58 yards field goal which is highly unlikely. He misses and gives the ball back to the Giants at midfield. On the next play Jones throws a bomb to Ross for the first score, a touchdown, of the day. The score should be Giants 7-3 not 7-0. It was good to see that Garrett took my suggestion in last week’s Pulpit about taking a touchdown shot after a change of possession. If the Saintspunted at best the Giants would have had the ball on their own 20.

The third bad decision was to have Taysom Hill throw a bomb to Harris. The ball travelled 50 yards in the air. It was an underthrown, wobbly pass to the outside of Harris, and he had no chance to catch it. Bradberry makes the interception. The ball had to be thrown to the inside, if you are going to throw a bomb, you have to have the stronger armed Winston deliver it. Hill was brilliant on 2 touchdown runs. On the first one 7 Giants had a chance to tackle him and he ran through and tossed away all of them. Peyton needs to have him stick to that.

The fourth bad decision was not to throw a pass to Kamara! Brees always hit Kamara in space. He has had 80+ receptions in all 4 years since he’s been in the league. Kamara in the 4 years he’s been in the league coming into this season, he has averaged only 188 fewer receiving yards each year than rush yards. We are talking slightly over 10 yards more rushing yards/game over his career. Sunday he had 0 receiving yards!

Giants Positives……

• The offense had 485 yards. The last time off the top of my head that they had as many was probably vs the Lions in 2019.
• The Giants only had 3 penalties as we finally see the discipline that Judge talks about.
• Saquon had his best game since his rookie year. The Giants usually win when he has over 100 total yards
• We finally see life from the Golladay and Toney. Because the Giants moved Golladay around he was not on Lattimore 100%. Garrett finally figured out how to use Toney.

Giants vs Cowboys Preview and Prediction

Turning to Sunday’s game, the Cowboys have a chameleon offense. They can beat you with the run or the pass. In week 1 vs the Buccaneers, Dak threw 58 times. That was because historically the Bucs have been great vs the run. With defensive back problems by the Bucs, Dak threw for 403 yards and 3 TD’s. The next 3 weeks Dak did not throw for more than 238 yards. Other than the Chargers game, where he was held in check, the last 2 weeks Dak only averaged 213 yards/game. However, he has been every efficient throwing 7 touchdowns the last 2 weeks on 35 completions! A 20% touchdown rate is unheard of!

The Cowboys can beat you on the ground. They are 2nd in rushing yards/game at 166 and 5.35 yards/carry. They have the Zeke and Pollard 1-2 punch. Zeke is back to his rookie year form and Pollard may be better than Zeke. He is more explosive.

The Cowboys will establish the run to use play action. They will also run to keep the Giants off the field. You have to be worried that given the fact that the Giants gave up 170 rushing to the Saints last week. You have to expect if the Giants have not made adjustments, the Cowboys will run for 150+ yards. Then Dak will look to take some shots. Gallup, the Cowboys deep threat, is on IR. Amari Cooper is nursing a sore hamstring but he should play.

The Cowboys have enough weapons still to get the win. CeeDee Lamb should see a lot of Bradberry defending him. Bradberry has not been the shutdown corner this year except on the Washington interception. He has been getting beat. I expect Lamb to have a good day. The Cowboys have 2 tight ends that will be active. Dalton Schultz is having a good year. He has been strong stats the last 2 weeks. He has 12 catches on 15 targets for 138 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Giants are 4th worst vs the tight end and I expect Schultz to have a big day, The Cowboys also have Blake Jarwin, a competent tight end.

When the Giants have the ball, hopefully Garrett will use the more aggressive game plan that he employed last week vs the Saints. The Giants need to get Barkley going again. He seems to be back from his injury. He had 126 scrimmage yards vs the Saints and 2 TD’s, one rushing and one receiving. It will be difficult to run vs the Cowboys as they only give up 81 yards a game rushing. Their linebackers, including probable defensive rookie of the year, Micah Parsons, have been all over the line of scrimmage

The way to beat the Cowboys is through the air. They give up 315 passing yards/game and 6.42 yards a play because of it. Even though Shepard and Slater are still out, the Giants have plenty of targets. Golladay had his first 100+ yard game with 116 yards. The Giants finally unleashed their first-round pick, Kadarius Toney. He had 78 yards from 9 targets and 6 catches. He may be the team’s best receiver after the catch. They also unveiled John Ross. He was a first round pick of the Bengals. He has had a bust career but he showed his 4.22 speed on a 52-yard touchdown last week. Jones, who won FedEx Offensive Player of the Week for throwing for 402 yards, has players he can work with.

The Giants had lost seven in a row in this series until then last game of 2020. The Giants beat the Cowboys in week 17 on an Andy Dalton wounded duck throw of his back foot in the end zone at the end of the game. If you have been reading this column, you know that the Giants are road warriors. They are 11-2 against the spread on the road their last 13 games. They are especially good as an underdog. Off the top of my head, they are probably 16-6 against the spread over the last 22.

This game will be close. It score will be within the 7-point spread. I am calling this one Cowboys 31 and the Giants 27.

Prophet’s Pulpit-NYG vs Saints Preview & Prediction Plus Falcons Fiasco Commentary

INEPTITUDE

Hot Stinking Giants Garbage

In this “Decade of Malaise” (term coined by the Prophet) many times for the Giants I had thought that the Giants hit their rock bottom over this period. The Gmen may have hit that low point last Sunday in their loss to the hapless Atlanta Falcons. The Giants lost the second game in a row by a last-minute field goal as time expired. The Falcons gave up 80 points the previous 2 weeks. The pathetic Giants could only score 14 points! I don’t know if they can win another game all year. We saw the same mistakes and lack of execution that we have come to expect under the Judge, Garrett and Graham regime.

Let me say a word about Joe Judge. After 19 games, you can tell that Judge is a FRAUD! He came into New York with all talk that that Mara, Tisch and Gettleman swallowed hook, line and sinker! After every game, they should just play the tape from their first loss with him at the post-game press conference. He says the same thing over and over but the results never change!

Judge states, “We didn’t finish plays and drives especially at the end of the game. We have to do a better job playing the game for 60 minutes and finishing. We have to do a better job coaching and executing and we will be back hard at work on Monday. We have to go back to work, correct mistakes and stay together as a team. We have to give this city a team that they will be proud of as they come in here and spend their hard-earned money.” Blah, Blah, Blah! The one thing is that nothing changes is a win the next week, it’s all the same.

Judge is a Belichick Wannabee who was never a coordinator. He plays Mr. Tough guy without the gravitas of winning like Belichick. He makes the players run laps as he alienates them further. I am not saying he should not be tough but his approach does not work. How about Judge runs some laps after each loss for the fans! He is stubborn like Mara and refuses to make any changes on offense. I will outline below why it is futile. He will be blown out with Garrett if he doesn’t make any changes to this anemic offense.

I am not going to review this game as it is pointless. I want to talk to the bigger issues at play here that will plague the Giants all year. It was an anemic pathetic offensive performance because of the unimaginative, vanilla garbage play calling by Jason Garrett. The Dallas fans wanted to run him out of Dallas for years. I never saw it looking at the occasional Dallas national TV game and the RedZone. However, when you see this garbage week after week and play after play, you understand what they were talking about.

With Garrett, The Giants are 6-13. Here are some other horrible stats for Garrett since he’s been in New York:

:➢ 28th in yards per play➢

30th in points per drive➢

31st in explosive plays➢

31st in points➢

32nd in yards to go on 3rd down

One theory I heard is Garrett is vanilla because it is the only way he has cut down the turnovers for #DannyTurnover. If that’s true, they are really doomed because they can’t score enough points to win. Please take a look at the data provided by Ben Baldwin. One can deduce the rumor is true.

Mara, Tisch, nepotism Chris Mara, and Gettleman WAKE UP, Garrett is garbage. No motion, jet sweeps, or schemes to get players open in the vulnerable spots of the defense. Sitting on your couch you can call the next play. If I can, the defense sureas hell can. Get him the hell out of there. You need to find someone else to call plays! Let me tell you it is not Freddy Kitchens. Judge’s buddy from Mississippi State, Kitchens was 6-10 at Cleveland. As soon as he left they won their first playoff game in decades. He has the maturity of a 2-year-old. While at the Browns, the week after the Myles Garrett helmet swinging incident against Mason Rudolph, he said his daughter said he should wear a t-shirt that read “It was Pittsburgh’s fault”. He is not a professional or a mature grown up. I don’t want him on my team. Mara because of Judge welcomes him in with open arms.

GAME ANALYSIS

Let’s get to the game before I get more aggravated than I am already. The Giants will not be able to run the ball vs the Saints. They only give up 60 yards/game which is third in the league. That means the rushers will get about 30 yards and Jones as we have seen vs tough rush defenses gets the rest. The Giants have the 4th starting lineup on the offensive line in 4 weeks. Billy Price gets his second start and Bredeson is out. That means the recently acquired Matt Skura gets the start. He’s from the Ravens but has no chemistry with this group. This means the backs will be getting hit at the line of scrimmage or behind and Jones will have to get rid of the ball quickly.

The Giants will have to throw the ball to win this game. With Shepard and Slayton out, it is time for $72M man, Golladay to step up. However, he may not be able to going up against Lattimore. Lattimore has regularly taken out Mike Evans and Julio Jones in his own division. I say Golladay only has 2 catches for 12 yards. He is on pace for 60 catches with 11 now and 0 touchdowns. Also, Garrett needs to figure out starting this game how to use Toney. He’s the first-round pick. Let’s get him in the slot, on the outside and on jet sweeps and reverses. His usage is up. From a total of 24 snaps in week 1 & 2 total, he saw 46 snaps last week which was 66% of the plays. Collin Johnson was a pleasant surprise last week. He had 5 catches on 7 targets for 51 yards. We may see the first appearance of John Ross who is off IR. Ross is a first round bust for the Bengals who has not played much. His claim to fame is having the fastest time ever, 4.22, at the Combine in the 40-yard dash.

When the Saints have the ball it will be Kamara early and often. He has 62 touches including 10 receptions in 3 games accounting for 239 yards and 2 touchdowns. With Blake Martinez out he will be sprung over the middle. He run at least 15 times and probably more with a lead at the end of the game. Winston has not thrown for a ton of yards but he has been efficient with 7 touchdowns in 3 games. The Saints have 5 lessor know receivers with Mike Thomas on IR. The best 3 are Calloway, Stills and Tre’Quon Smith. I can see Calloway beating the Giants corners deep for a 50+ yard TD bomb.

THE PREDICTION

The Giants are playing in the Superdome and it is the home opener for the Saints and first game in 2 years with fans. It will be a tough atmosphere for the Gmen, although I have documented that they play better on the road. In the final analysis, I expect the Giants to lose because of the offensive line problems, the injuries to the receivers, and the New Orleans defense that only gives up 14 points a game and 4,86 yards per play. The Giants will be one dimensional when they cannot run the ball. I expect the Giants to be in 2nd and 3rd and long all day. Garrett will have to get imaginative but we have no evidence of that since he’s been here. I am calling this game the Saints 28 and the Giants 10.

Falcons 17 Giant Ass Clowns 14

What is it going to take for you to blow up your team?

Written by: Glenn Warciski

I have had enough. And so do some Giants fans who took their umbrage out at John Mara by booing him incessantly. But does our owner John Mara? The Giants continue to find ways to lose football games. On a beautiful Fall Sunday in northern New Jersey, albeit on Eli Manning Day, the Giants lost to the lowly Atlanta Falcons on a FG as time expired 17-14. On consecutive weeks, the Giants suffered the agony of defeat. Their last two games ended on walk off field goals. So with three games into the 2021 campaign, the Giants find themselves with an 0-3 record. Needless to say, with no hope in sight to revitalize this season, this team will post another double digit losing season. Over the last decade, the Giants have posted a dreadful record of 51-70. And John Mara fails to see the urgency in making major changes with the organizational structure. What will be the flashpoint?

Earlier this week, I asked Albert Breer, SI NFL columnist, the following question.

From TrueBlueNYG (@NYGunderground): What is it going to take for John Mara to realize his team needs a complete makeover?

His response:

True Blue, I’ve heard at a few points over the last half decade that Mara’s hot over the state of his football operation. So I’d imagine another disappointing season (the Giants have the fifth-longest playoff drought in the league, having last made it in 2016) will lead to more change in the team’s ranks. The question is at what level.

As it stands, I think coach Joe Judge is safe. The Maras really like him, and the team’s taken steps forward under his leadership. I also think it’d be difficult for the family to stomach another coaching change. Consider this: From 1931 to 2015, from Steve Owen to Tom Coughlin, and through 85 seasons, only one coach (Ray Handley) didn’t make it into a third year. If Judge were fired, he’d be the third consecutivecoached fired after just two seasons. The Giants pride themselves on organizational stability, and this would not be that.

Could change happen in the front office? Yes, I think it’s possible. But the question then would be, if GM Dave Gettleman were to take a step back, or step down, whether the next hire would be a doubling-down on Judge—with a GM who has a background with him (like Tennessee’s Monti Ossenfort) coming in—or a fresh start. Or an internal promotion, with someone like Kevin Abrams or Chris Pettit moving up.

And then, there’d would be the question of whether there are simply too many Giants lifers in the building, people who have worked there and nowhere else (it’s something that’s been raised in Pittsburgh in the past, and something that led to a bit of house-cleaning in Jacksonville with the arrival of Urban Meyer).

Fact is, if things don’t get better, there’ll be plenty of questions for the Maras to answer.

Since John Mara officially took over after his father Wellington passed away in 2005, the Giants had stability within the organization. Ernie Accorsi was the GM and Tom Coughlin was head coach. Wellington Mara handed the keys to the car to John. Subsequently, the Giants won two improbable Super Bowls with the man they honored on Sunday-QB Eli Manning. Eli was the last link to winning. One has to remember, Eli did not do it alone. He was surrounded with outstanding players who helped the Giants get to the top of the mountain.

John has failed to obtain quality players on both sides of the ball. Thus, he has trusted complete morons to run the once mighty Giants into the ground. Yes, Dave Gettleman is an anathema. This crusty the clown has a record of 15-36.

Since Mara unceremoniously dismissed Tom Coughlin as head coach. Look at the dreck he promoted to head coach.

Stooge number one. Ben McAdoo 13-15

Stooge number two. Pat Shurmur. 9-23

Stooge number three. Joe Judge 6-13,

As we have stated here on this humble blog, once Mara decides to pull the lever in order to remove all the stench from 1925 Giants Drive, the losing will continue.

Other Observations:

The Atlanta Falcons stink. As our Tony pointed out over their first two games, they have given up an average of 40 points per game. With 10 days to prepare, the Giants managed 14 points.

Joe Fudge’s game mismanagement.

He lost a challenge.

Burned two crucial timeouts which left the Giants with one remaining at the 11:34 mark remaining in the 4th quarter.

With the game tied at 14, the Giants are faced with a 4th and 9 at midfield with 1:58 left in the game. Keep in mind, the Giants have one timeout remaining. Thanks to Judge’s mismanagement. On their last possession, the Falcons drove the ball down the field to score the game tying TD. More importantly, Giants QB Jones was sacked and fumbled a few plays earlier. Thankfully, Jones recovered his fumble. So what does Judge decide to do?

Punt. When Judge made this misguided decision, I knew the Giants were going to lose. The could not stop the clock. His defense could not get big stops. And Atlanta needed a FG.

Next, the Giants face New Orleans who will be playing their first home because of Hurricane Ida which ravaged most of South East Louisiana. The Giants are going to be run out of the building. 0-4.

Prophet’s Pulpit- NYG vs WFT recap & Falcons Preview and Prediction

THE BLOWN GAME

The Giants have another game and chalk up anotherheartbreaking loss. Once again the Giants beat themselves. I tweeted well after midnight, “How the hell can you go to sleep after another blown game by a point!!!!!!!” This was a truly winnable game vs a team with a backup quarterback who the Giants made look like Dan Marino. In the first 2 weeks the Washington defense does not look like the unit from last year. They are worse and got very little pressure on Jones.

The Giants defense, that was supposed to be the strength of this team, is a sieve and a joke! They have given up 827 yards in 2 games. Defensive coordinator, Graham, is running an umbrella defense that is being torched for big yards over the middle with plenty of YAC given up. They have given up 57 points in 2 weeks. For Washington Taylor Heinicke was starting only his third game. He threw for 336 yards and 7.3 YPA. You would think that Graham would come up with some exotic looks to confuse him. That’s what Belichick would do. Graham has not been at New England since 2015 and he may have forgot what he learned there.

There were too many twists and turns in this game to document them all. Kurt Warner on YouTube in his #StudyBall segment outlined 10 plays that Daniel Jones could have had completions and/or more yards. He made the wrong reads or hurried the throws. Is this what we get from the 6th overall pick in the 2019 draft. After 3 years we are still getting incompetence.

I’ll start in the second quarter with the score 7-7. Jones runs 58 yards for a touchdown. However, it is called back because of an offensive holding call by Board. The call was somewhat questionable but there was probably enough evidence to warrant the call. Seven points are taken off the board. They settled for a field goal so there were 4 points lost here.

The outcome of last week’s game came down to the last 5 minutes. The Giants have the lead 26-20 with 4:50 left in the game. Slayton dropped a touchdown pass at 6:25 left in the game. That’s 11 points left on the field.

It only took Washington 2 plays and 17 seconds to go 75 yards and retake the lead 27-26. The first play is a 59-yard pass to McKissic and the next is a 19-yard touchdown to Ricky Seals-Jones who beat Adoree Jackson. Jones is a journeyman who is with his 4th team in 5 years. What is Graham doing? After this year it may be time to get rid of the 3 G’s: Gettleman, Garrett and Graham!

With 2:16 left in the game, Bradberry jumped the pass route to McLaurin and bats the ball to himself for the interception. It was his best play of the night. He probably had his worst game as a Giant otherwise but he makes a redemption play.

This is where Judge and Garrett blew this game. The Giants have the ball on the Washington 20-yard line. First down the give the ball to Barkley who runs through the right guard for 1 yard. Second down is rinse and repeat for 2 yards! Now on 3rd & 7 Jones does not survey the field, hurries the throw to his first read, Shepard, and the throw is behind him vs a nickel defense. They kick a field goal and I am screaming the game is over! Jimmy Johnson would have thrown for a touchdown on first down after a turnover. Go for the throat. That’s why Garrett hasto go! He is garbage! You can’t win with him.

You all know what happens from here. Washington goes down the field, misses a field goal and Dexter Lawrence is off sides. They make the retry and the game is over, 30-29!

I have to also say that I am getting tired of Joe Judge’s comments after the game. It’s the same lines since he’s got here. You can play a tape recording. He crafts canned Belichickian retorts.  We have to do better. The team is working hard. We are making continuous improvement. I have to look at the tape. His act is wearing thin! He should run a ton of laps!

THIS WEEK’S MATCHUP

The football gods lay up a patsy for the Gmen. They get the 0-2 Falcons at home. This may be the only game they are favored in for the rest of the year. I think the Giants need to establish the run in this game. The Falcons gave up 62 yards to Jalen Hurts in week 1. Jones will need to rack up the yards vs Atlanta. Unfortunately, he has been the Giants leading rusher. This will set up play action later. The biggest problem for the Giants is that they are down 2 starting offensive lineman, Nick Gates and Shane Lemieux. Gettleman like his predecessor, Jerry “Reach”, have talked about fixing the offensive line but have been unable to accomplish it for a decade.

The Falcons run cover 2 at 49% as they try to keep the pass game in front of them. The unimaginative Garrett (except on the scripted first drive last week) will need to work in Engram, who returns for his first game this year. Let’s get him open underneath. It’s time to get Toney more involved in the offense. He played 28% of the snaps last week and 8% in week 1. Garrett also needs to get Golladay more involved. The $72 million man has 7 catches for 102 yards. At this pace he will catch only 60 passes for 867 yards! I expect Jones to continue to find Shepard who has 16 receptions for 207 yards in 2 games. He needs to get his 100-yard average. The Falcons have given up 388 yards a game, 6.1 yards a play and 40 points a game. If they don’t get pressure on Jones, he should feast. By the way, Jones is only good when he is not pressured.

When the Falcons have the ball, Ryan will be looking to get rid of the ball quickly and have success in the pass game. The Falcons cannot run the ball. Christian McCaffrey, back up from last year, Mike Davis is anemic replicating how he played the second half of the season last year. He has 3.6 yards/ attempt rushing and 4.8 yards/ catch receiving. This made OC, Dave Ragone, start to use Cordarrell Patterson out the backfield in the pass game. The Falcons only have 89 yards rushing a game. They will try to run some to keep the Giants defense honest, but they need to win through the air.

The Giants need to get pressure up the middle. Matt Ryan, like pocket quarterbacks Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, are vulnerable from pressure up the A gap. Ryan is not mobile. The Falcons will look to use their pass weapons. Ridley needs to have 100+ yards receiving. Ryan needs to push the ball down the field. His ADOT (average depth of target) is 5.1 yards, second lowest in the league. Tight end rookie phenom, Kyle Pitts, has only caught 9 passes for 104 yards. Ryan has to be smacking his lips when he sees Graham’s soft umbrella defense that leaves the middle of the field open. Graham needs to make adjustments. I think Pitts gets his first touchdown vs the Gmen. I would be running crossers over the middle out of trip wide outs. The Falcons will miss Gage who is out for this game. Zaccheaus will have to pick up the slack and they can stack Pitts to that side.

The Giants are retiring Eli Manning’s number before the game. The players don’t want to crap the bed even though the Giants have played better on the road. The Giants have had 10 days to prepare for this game after a heartbreaking loss fueled by mistakes. The Falcons give up 40 points a week. Even Garrett can figure a way to get 30 points. Look for the Giants defense to get some interceptions. Ryan threw 2 pick 6 interceptions last week.

I am calling this one Giants 30 and the Falcons 23. Based on the way teams like the Raiders and Panthers that looked like wins, the Falcons may be one of the few teams that the Giants can beat for the rest of the year unless we see MAJOR improvement.

GIANTS DECADE OF MALAISE

Dave Gettleman’s Record since becoming GM: 15-35

Giants Record since last Super Bowl win: 51-69

Giants Record since 2017: 15-35

Daniel Jones Record: 8-20, has not beaten a team with a winning record.

Joe Judge’s Record: 6-12

Winning Seasons since 2011 Super Bowl Year: 2

Daniel Jones…Still Struggling -Coaching and Jones to Blame

Written by: Paul Burke

If we need anymore evidence on why John Mara needs to get the F out of the way and hire a football operations professional the attached video analysis by Kurt Warner piles on. It is year 3 for a guy who was, without a doubt, a reach at pick number 6 in the 1st round. Warner points out some of the fundamental flaws of DJ that should be well under his belt by now. Granted, some of this is coaching and coaching in the film room but DJ rushes the game versus playing fast. He rushes his decision making and mechanics as he reacts to the defense versus controlling what is in front of him. Perhaps he could get better with better coaching but it defines how broken this organization really is. The QB position is the most critical position in the game as the rules define that. The GM, disguised as a bag of dog shit with transition glasses, has miserably failed building an OL in front of him and to this day is still be reactive versus proactive

You also fail to develop him with sound coaching, scheme and coaching of fundamentals. It is year 3 and he can’t master some of the fundamental traits on how to be a successful QB in the league. The game is just too fast for DJ. In our opinion he could be a serviceable player but not one to carry a team. He is just too inconsistent and this tape analysis shows he is not reading the defense to his advantage.

Jason Garrett has been a coach in the league far too long from this damning tape analysis. How in the world was he a HC for as many years as he was in Dallas is beyond comprehension. If your players can’t play with sound technique and fundamentals you should find another career with your Princeton degree. The game is now predicated on speed and space. This tape analysis clearly shows you have no clue about utilizing space. Coaches are supposed to set up their players to succeed and not fail. You are clearly setting up your QB to fail and your overall unit. You were hired as a QB whisperer and these warts your QB has are an indictment on your inability to coach. If Joe Judge was truly the HC why hasn’t he fired this guy? Oh wait he didn’t hire him. John Mara did.

John, seriously, wake the F up!

Prophet’s Pulpit-WFT vs NYG Game preview & Recap of Broncos Debacle

Written by: Tony “The Prophet” Yantosca

WEEK 1 AUTOPSY
It was a new season of hope for Giants fans and the #TogetherBlue Nation. It was highlighted by wild free agency spending including the huge contract for Leonard Williams. However, by 7pm Sunday September 12th, all those hopes were dashed like an untied, cheap boat in the Gulf of Mexico during Hurricane Katrina! The Giants were playing a beatable team that won fewer games than they did. There were huge questions coming into the season:
➢ The offensive line was bad last year and it looked bad in the preseason. Was it improved at all?
➢ Could Daniel Jones stop the turnovers?
➢ Could the offense explode with all the weapons added in the offseason?
➢ Could Jason Garrett get more imaginative with the offense?

The answer to all these is NO!

I said in last week’s Pulpit, the Giants have to get off to a fast start. Did they? No! The Broncos won the time of possession in the first quarter, 10:09 to 4:51 and 18:59 for the half vs 10:01 for the Giants. The Giants were ahead. 7-3 in the second quarter. The game turned when the Giants recovered a fumble at 4:05 left in the first half at their own 4-yard line. This we thought stopped a Broncos touchdown. The Giants managed 3 yards on 3 plays and had to punt.

On the other hand, Denver torched the Giants for successive pass plays of 14, 16, and 17 yards. With 13 seconds left Bridgewater hit Patrick for a 2-yard touchdown which culminated a 7 play, 57-yard drive. It only took 2:17. When that happened I said this game was over.

The Broncos received the second half kickoff and go on a 16 play, 75-yard touchdown drive. It took 8:12 off the clock before the Giants got the ball back. Bridgewater hit a 4th and 1 touchdown pass to Okwuegbunam. Say that fast 3 times. The Broncos were 3 for 3 on 4th down conversions on the day. “Teddy Two Gloves” got rid of the ball very quickly in 2.1 seconds as the defense tried to tackle him. He was only sacked twice.

When the Giants get the ball back, they drive from their own 25-yard line to the Broncos 22-yard line. Then we get the #DannyTurnover obligatory turnover, a fumble. Even though Jones had 2 hands on the ball it was easily knocked out. Jones Scoreboard is now 40 Turnovers and 38 passing touchdowns!

I said the game was over but the last nail in the coffin was the 70-yard run by aging Gordon. The Bronco OL sealed 3 Giants on the left and 2 on the right. It was a scene right out of the NFL Matchup show from years ago. Merrill Hoge used to say, “What we have here is a seal here and a seal there and Gordon runs right up the Kanally!” He completely outran the entire New York defense (there were 7 defenders trapped to his right) including Bradberry and Adoree Jackson had the last shot and he couldn’t reach him! Jones got a garbage time last minute drive vs the Broncos prevent defense. He ran into the endzone unopposed as time expired. The Giants as far as I am concerned only scored 7 measly points.

WEEK 2 MATCHUP

It is on to face the Redskins which is one of the top 5 defenses in the league on a short week on the road. This is the 177th regular season meeting between these 2 teams. #DannyTurnover will not be facing the patsy team that he got half of his 8 wins from. The Giants always play better on the road especially as an underdog. However, I think the Washington team with their ferocious front seven (Chase Young, Montez Sweat) will melt the Giants Swiss cheese offensive line. Jones and the Giants will have 2-3 turnovers. The offense is anemic again with Garrett. The Chargers threw for 334 yards last week vs Washington.

The pass game is the only way that the Giants will have to win. The Giants start to have to use their new weapons. Toney is supposed to be the “Human Joy Stick”. Let’s get him in space. Try a jet sweep or a quick hitter on a linebacker. Golladay is the shiny $72M X receiver. Let’s get him 100 catches. He was 4 for 64 yards on 6 targets. Rudolph, with Engram who missed his 15th game as a Giant (He is missing his 16th this week!), only caught 2 passes for 8 yards. Sheppard who Jones developed chemistry in year 1 had the best day at 113 yards on 7 catches and a touchdown. I said in the Pulpit he would haver at least 5. Jones will have to get rid of the ball quickly so look to an increased screen game. However, with Garrett you know it will be conservative which will spell doom.

The Giants got only ran for 60 yards and Jones was the leading rusher with 27 yards! They will not be able to rush for much more against this Washington front.

The Washington offense was hit with a big loss when Fitzpatrick left the game and will not be back for 6-8 weeks. His replacement Heinicke is not as experienced as the 14-year veteran and I feel the scoring potential is cut 20-25% with Heinicke. It’s a downgrade for McLaurin and Thomas. Washington will try and establish a run game with Gibson to set up play action to McLaurin and Thomas. The Broncos picked on Peppers in the pass game and Washington should do the same. I think they will also want to run to keep the Giants off the field. They can win the time of possession like the Broncos and let their defense get them good field position off turnovers.

THE PREDICTION

The last 3 games in this series have been decided by an average of 3.3 points. Barkley will be on a pitch count again given that it is a short week. I can see this anemic offense scoring more than 2 touchdowns. I am calling this game Washington 20 and the Giants 17. I like the Under more than picking a side in this one. 14 points represents the average points that the Giants have scored in their last 7 games with the Genius Garrett. I would have fired him Sunday night. My original prediction was 20-14 but the Giants are a great road underdog at 9-2 ATS as a road dog. Off the top of my head, it is probably 16-5. Teams always do better after an embarrassment. Make sure you get Gmen +3.5 (some place at -3) because you need the hook to win. The Giants will have their only chance to win in the first 5 weeks next week vs the hapless Falcons off 10 days rest.
